Tamari Almond Green Beans

Tamari Almond Green Beans

This easy green bean recipe is the perfect antioxidant-rich vegetable side dish to accompany your dinner table this summer. It’s green bean season and there are so many delicious ways to eat them. Keeping it simple, we love to cook them in a little ghee, topped with salt and pepper. If you’re looking to try something new, these sweet and salty flavours work great with the added crunch from the almonds and buttery goodness of ghee. Take your beans to the next level!

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 15 minutes

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Lee’s Ghee (Plain Jane or Brown Butter)
  • 1 lb green beans, trimmed
  • 2 teaspoons gluten-free tamari or coconut aminos
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • Juice of half a lime
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped almonds
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Pinch of red chili flakes
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced

Directions

  1. Heat ghee in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the green beans, cover and cook for 5-7 minutes until tender.
  2. Lower the heat to medium and add the tamari, maple syrup, lime juice and garlic. Cook the beans until they turn bright green and begin to brown in some areas.
  3. Add the chopped almonds and cook for an additional 30 seconds. Season with salt and chili flakes.
  4. Remove from heat and top with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
