Stewed Pears with Ghee

For a nourishing breakfast, I like to make stewed pears, and serve them over oatmeal. Ghee helps break down the fibrous part of the fruit to make it easier to digest. The stewed fruit is great on oatmeal or on its own and any leftovers are good to have on hand as a quick snack or you can use them as a natural sweetener for baking. 

Stewed Pears with Ghee

 

Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 ripe pears or apples

  • 1 teaspoon Lee's Ghee (Plain Jane or Brown Butter)

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom

Directions

  1. Chop the pears and place them into a small sacuepan. Add enough water to just cover the fruit.

  2. Add the spices and ghee and simmer over medium heat until soft, 10 to 15 minutes.
